When my old work collegue Sam contacted me about photographing her wedding I knew it would be an epic one. Sam is no wallflower and i knew she was going to have a PARTTTY!
I was not disappointed, This was one EPIC wedding with the most incredible flowers, bands and a glitter girl, can we do it again!?!
One of my all time favourite weddings to date!
How did the proposal go?
We were on Holiday in Cuba. After a week of mostly rice and beans, rich took me fro a posh dinner at Habana Libre hotel in Havana. The restaurant on the top floor had panaramic views of the city & out to sea. Before dinner he got down on one knee at the table taking me totally by surprise. I got such a shock it took a minute to register what was happening. I said yes obviosuly but left poor Richard hanging long enough to give hima bit of a fright!
We celebrated with lots of rum and dancing at a cabaret show. Back at the homestay the family we were staying with spoke to English but understood our excitement and so we partied with them into the early hours
What made you choose your venue?
Kelburn Castle is such a fun and quirky venue. We wanted to be able to have as much as possible outside and there was so many options for this but also plenty of shelter if the Scottish weather didn’t cooperate. For the ceremony I just loved the peace and tranquillity of the walled garden with its gorgeous trees and flowers then in contrast to this the madness of the colourful castle and the festival feel of the pavilion. We didn’t have to do much to decorate as the setting was already amazing. We were also conscious that there would be lots of kids so wanted to make sure there was plenty to keep them occupied.
What was your theme/style of your wedding and why did you pick it?
We wanted it all to be as relaxed as possible. We didn’t intend on having a theme but it ended up very festival inspired. I didn’t have a colour preference so the brief was just colourful to match the castle. I also liked that this tied into our Cuban engagement. With minimal organisation it all came together fairly well.
What made you fall in love with your dress?
I was not interested in hauling some huge dress around all day and I wanted something I could dance in. I loved everything about if from the design to the shape and it was immediately comfortable.
What was your stand out moment of the day?
Arriving at the walled garden for the ceremony and seeing all of my favourite people in one place.Everyone looked so happy and the energy was incredible.
Any Advice for future couples?
